ABSTRACT
In this chapter we look further into the nature of volunteering, having defined it in Chapter 2. Next we discuss some of the common volunteer roles. The main part of the chapter is devoted to the scope of volunteering: its types and the sectors of life where it occurs. The chapter concludes with an examination of casual and career volunteering.
