ABSTRACT

Zara is the flagship brand of the Spanish retail giant Inditex, shipping over 450 million items of clothing per year. In 2014 it achieved sales of $12.6 billion. Founded by Amancio Ortega when he opened his first clothing store in the Galicia town of Arteixo in 1975, today Zara operates over 2,000 stores in some 88 countries. While Spain remains its key market, in 2013 China overtook France to become Zara's second largest market (Berfield and Baigorri 2013).
