ABSTRACT

Comrade Zinoviev, in his assessment of the opposition, gives it as consisting of two groups; the first group being a body of offended gentry who count for little; the second being a very important and solid group which is wholly in agreement with us on the questions of the partisan movement and military specialists but extremely dissatisfied with my attitude towards Communists working in the army. Comrade Zinoviev demands some sort of radical change in attitude towards Communists working in the army and says straight out that ‘without this no progress will be made’. He ends his report with the words: ‘the support with which my report has met in the CC gives me the assurance that we shall rapidly put this matter right’.
