ABSTRACT

As described in the Introduction, this book is the result of years of collegial contact and months of intense collaborative writing. As part of this collaboration, Leslie travelled to Norway to visit Brynjulf in Brandal on the western coast of the country. We would write and discuss most of the time, except for our daily walk in the countryside and the day off when we went to Ålesund, the major town in the area. This town has a fine collection of Art Nouveau buildings as well as an interesting Art Nouveau centre. On the next day we were back to the discipline of writing but, of course, there would always be some time for more free-floating conversations and reflections, especially in the evenings. We have written this epilogue as a dialogue constructed from the many conversations we had together during these days. You can imagine the two of us sitting in front of the fire one evening, trying to sum up our thoughts about the book and the writing process.
