ABSTRACT

A poem describes an emotion, thought or idea through the pattern of words on a page, which is different from the way words are set out in a piece of prose. There are two main types of poems. They are rhyming poems and non-rhyming poems. Rhyming poems are often divided into verses and that many poems have four-line verses. Many poems are written in four-line verses called quatrains. Four-line verses can have a number of different rhyme patterns. For example, When the night is as cold as stone, When lightning severs the sky, When your blood is chilled to the bone, That's the hour when the witches fly. There is a golden rule that one must follow when writing a rhyming poem: the rhyme must fit the meaning and sense of the poem. Here an epitaph is an inscription or verse written on someone's gravestone.
