ABSTRACT

Symbols used in our writing known as punctuation marks in order to make it possible for people to understand and make sense of what we have written. The capital letters were causing a fuss, saying, 'You must remember how to use us at the start of a name like Imran/Paul, or the name of a place such as Crewe/Poetical. You must use us when you start new sentences too. Don't forget to use us whatever you do'. The comma is used in a number of ways. It is used to break up lists of words and phrases and to separate the clauses in a complex sentence to make the sentence easier to read. Commas after connectives explains that you often need to put a comma after a connective that is used at the beginning of a sentence. A semi-colon is used to mark a pause that is longer than a comma, but is not as long as a full stop.
