ABSTRACT

Urban morphologists analyze a city's evolution from its formative years to its subsequent transformations, identifying and dissecting its various components. In general the urban morphology approach emphasizes the social and economic dimensions of form because it portrays elements of urban form in a dynamic fashion, as the city changes through time. The design method of the school of Muratori is based on the dialectic relationship between complementary and reversible moments in historic typological research and the stages of design development. The existing structure of the historic center of Nablus city is a characteristic feature of the latest Arabic and Islamic culture. The Courtyard house of Abdel Hadi Palace comprises military buildings, religious institutions, mosques, madrasah, churches and synagogues. Nablus city was considered one of several centers of rebellion in the first intifada and was one of the first locations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories to witness the initial impact of the second intifada that broke out after September 2000.
