ABSTRACT

This chapter is the first of five chapters that focuses on the management of dyadic buyersupplier relationships in particular from a purchasing perspective. As Figure 2.1 shows, the purchasing process and other issues to do with purchasing, including, for example, sourcing, outsourcing and supplier relationship management, predominantly concern the first level of purchasing and supply chain analysis: dyadic buyer-supplier relationships. In other words, Part A focuses on direct supplier relationships, especially how to organize the internal purchasing organization and develop a purchasing strategy in order to develop and manage these from a sustainability perspective.
