ABSTRACT

One of the most important aspects of education is for students to leave our schools believing learning is a continuous life process. As educators should model that we are continuous learners, and how continue the process of learning. Millions of educators are collaborating, sharing, and supporting each other through social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Edmodo, Google+, and LinkedIn. The educators, subject matter experts (SMEs), authors, and mentors choose to derive knowledge from help us self-reflect on our methodologies and beliefs. These individuals connect with are called our Personal or Professional Learning Network (PLN). Many of us already learn from Personal Learning Networks (PLNs) that consist of the friends, family, or peers we connect with online. This online learning and connecting is the basis of the theory of connectivism developed by George Siemens and Stephen Downes. Sharing resources begins to define as a subject matter expert (SME) in our field.
