ABSTRACT

Millions of students leave school with a negative attitude and view towards learning. They feel the learning in schools is boring, difficult, unrelated to their lives, and meaningless. These students have faces, talents, imagination, creativity, skills, futures, and potential. Teachers need to stop punishing students for failing. When they do fail, one can also choose to let them keep trying till they succeed. This reflects the type of learning involved in playing video games. Students know they can fail a level and attempt it many times. Teachers are starting to gamify their curriculum to support students learning from their failures. The author favorite failure stories that motivated as a teen was hearing that Michael Jordan, favorite basketball player, did not make his varsity basketball team in his sophomore year of high school. This failure did not stop Michael Jordan from becoming one of the most talented basketball players in the world.
