ABSTRACT

The best way to move an audience is to present our message with passion. A viral message tends to have an engaging story. People relate to stories. People do not like being told what to do. Moreover, the topic of our messages can make others uncomfortable. Messages dressed in powerful stories get people to listen, reflect, and act. The purpose of message, however, was to persuade them to actually not give into peer pressure. Social media have given us the opportunity to spread viral messages. One can spread our messages as memes, videos, TedTalks, images, digital stories, infographics, and slide presentations. One can share them through social networks like Facebook, Google+, Edmodo, and Twitter. Scott McLeod's and Karl Fisch's Shift Happens videos are powerful example of how educators can impact millions. Teachers were in an uproar after the release of the documentary Waiting for Superman. The documentary went viral and sparked movements and policies to fix the American education system.
