ABSTRACT

This chapter shows how to navigate the web intelligently. It highlights how society's accepted norms, values, rituals, and customs are changing, due to the latest advances in technology. The chapter also highlights one of the consequences of our education systems failing to teach students to navigate the World Wide Web intelligently. Every school should connect students to the World Wide Web, from children to adults. Each digital curriculum needs to support student's developmental needs and balance these with active learning, experimentation, and play. Many students connect online with the goal of getting as many followers or friends as possible. They are developing Personal Learning Networks (PLNs). They influence the learning of those they connect with and those they connect with teach them everyday. Teacher can help our learners connect with subject matter experts (SMEs), authors, and mentors who will support their interests and nurture their passions. Students can use this information as support in their essays, presentations, or projects.
