ABSTRACT
Are students growing as readers? How can we tell? How do the Common Core Reading Standards call for a change in our assessment models? We just heard about the instructional shift into giving students cold readings to assess their comprehension skills, as opposed to our traditional reliance on tests that are based entirely on information that the student is expected to have learned through explicit instruction.
