ABSTRACT

Informational writing is where we get down to the nitty-gritty of the changes in store for the Common Core world. It is a world that exemplifies nonfiction reading and writing. In this chapter, however, the author gives the gist of the unit, but then breaks down into its parts to incorporate its building blocks into any informational writing curriculum. He thinks that by introducing the students to the concept of a student-created resource library in the classroom first, He would likely be able to translate the intent of social bookmarking later in the school year. In his narrative chapter of this book, the author explores both how inter-disciplinary subjects can inject narrative strategies and how language arts teachers can inject more nonfiction techniques. In the following sections, he is going to introduce four activities and/or skills to showcase informational research.
