ABSTRACT

Various estimates show, alternatively, that 9% of Americans have executed advanced health directives (i.e., living wills and durable powers of attorney), whereas less than 4%, or as many as 24% have executed living wills. 1 Other statistics show 70% die without a will. 2 Yet, interestingly, a 1991 Gallup Poll found 74% of Americans actually approved the use of living wills. 3
