ABSTRACT

I shall next describe some actual examples. First, I outline the development of Orsino in Twelfth Night, a part which I have had the opportunity of playing 1 ; next, I refer shortly to my productions of Romeo and Juliet, Henry VIII, Othello, Hamlet, and King hear. I use the initials C, R, and L, for ‘centre’, ‘right’ and ‘left’. Stage right is the audience’s left. Up-stage is away from the audience, down-stáge towards them.
