ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview and a synthesis of the information available on the epidemiology of personality disorders, comorbidity with other mental disorders, and current conceptual models to explain the co-occurrence of personality disorders and Axis-I disorders. Next, we will discuss the impact of personality disorders on treatment outcome of anxiety disorders, depression, and substance use disorders.
