ABSTRACT
The degree to which people become hypnotized is commonly referred to as hypnotic depth, or responsiveness. Hilgard defines hypnotic responsiveness as "the ability to become hypnotized, to have the experiences characteristic of the hypnotized person, and to exhibit the kinds of behavior associated with it [hypnosis]" (p. 67).
