Concerning the latter, beliefs are neither vague nor Pantheistic: He is as definite a personality as is the Christ, and, like Him, is considered by His followers to be Divine. Indeed, there are good reasons for suspecting that Amitabha Buddha’s appearance in the teaching of the 4th century is due to the influence on Buddhism in China of Nestorian Christians, who at that time existed in considerable numbers in that country.
