ABSTRACT
ALMOST simultaneously with the appearance of the Sassanians in Southern Arabia there was born at Mecca one of the most extraordinary men the world ever produced—a man who was destined to revolutionize Western Asia, to lay the foundations of a magnificent Empire and to be the prophet of one of the most important religious systems that have influenced mankind.
