ABSTRACT
There can be no doubt as to the authorship of the riddles of the Exeter Book, the first of them being a riddle on the name Cynewulf itself. Many of these riddles are true poems, con-taining beautiful descriptions of nature, and all of them show Cynewulf's charm and grace of language.
