ABSTRACT
There is a tendency today to think of Jules Verne as a scientific prophet 1 . In fact, he was a superb writer of novels for young people, an outstanding achievement which should suffice to his glory. Although one may think of him as the father of modern science-fiction, it is not him but rather Herbert-George Wells, a real scientist, who really launched this genre.
