ABSTRACT

(p. 155) Cooperative societies represent certain types of capitalist companies aimed at performance of specific services for certain categories of people. A cooperative is a company whose capital is divided into small shares, a portion of which is purchased by each member. Members are required to belong to the same category as those they will assist, such as employees, farmers, workers and similar groups; such groups may be the inhabitants of a particular village, district or cooperative. No persons outside these groups are allowed to participate in such cooperatives. Furthermore, transactions within these cooperatives, while they may be extended to others, should be limited as much as possible to the members themselves.
