ABSTRACT

At eight o’clock sharp I proceeded with some members of the Egyptian delegation to the Festival Hall on the first floor of the hotel, where the banquet was to be held. I felt quite fresh, for I had taken a hot shower and changed my clothes. I was quite relaxed following my talk with Begin and the agreement we had reached on eschewing any statements that might affect the atmosphere of the committee meetings. President Sadat’s cable, too, had given a boost to my morale. I felt rested and looked forward to spending a couple of hours seeing new faces and putting aside work and getting out of the four walls we had been shut up in ever since our arrival in Jerusalem.
