I now turn to examine select aspects o f SA SO 's organisation and its

activities related to student and popular mobilisation and collective

action. How ever, there are no hard and fast boundaries betw een

many of the activities. Thus, SA SO 's initiatives around publishing, which I deal with in the first section, can be considered to be equally a form of

collective action like the education protests and political m obilisation that

I describe in the later section. Conversely, the com munity developm ent

and other projects o f SA SO that I cover under "m obilisation and collective

action" can well be seen as aspects o f overall organisational activity.
