ABSTRACT

In 1988 Mid-West State University (MWSU) was awarded a $10.2 million grant as a national demonstration site for integrating life-long education into the basic fabric of a major, research-oriented, land grant university. As MWSU’s life-long learning programs fell under the university’s “service” activities, the provost’s office saw the grant as an opportunity to reexamine and strengthen MWSU’s service mission.
