ABSTRACT
In Chapter 4, 5, and 6, I sketched a view of the moral structure of man and of his values. (This view has been presented in systematic detail in a book, of which Richard M. Millard, Jr, was co-author, Personality and the Good, New York: David McKay, 1963.) This essay and its appendix need four introductory comments.
