ABSTRACT
‘No opinion is to be accepted as philosophical knowledge unless it is seen to be adequately established by observation of what is seen as itself given “in person”. Any belief seen to be incompatible with what is seen to be itself given is to be rejected. Towards opinions that fall in neither class—whether they be one's own or another's—one is to adopt an “official” philosophical attitude of neutrality.’
