The multisensory environments (MSE) educators will be motivated to conduct their own research and to feel sufficiently confident to share their findings with others. A full international acceptance of the MSE as a viable educational facility is heavily dependent upon there being sufficient research evidence to support the approach. When conducting research the researcher must choose a research paradigm which is the most appropriate to the research issue in question. A common cry in the research literature is the need for increased levels of MSE-related research. Research is the systematic investigation of an area in order to find out more about it. Teachers and therapists engage in informal research all the time. The positivist paradigm has been a major influence in education research, especially historically in special education. Being able to make succinct statements of prediction in regard to chance life events or to planned interventions continues to be a desirable goal.
