ABSTRACT

The breakdown of behavior into its component parts facilitates description and investigation. The child, however, functions as a unit from the very beginning of life. All functions are interrelated and interdependent. In normal individuals sensation, motion, perception, cognition, and emotion are all functions of an integrated whole. Among the various facets of the personality, the relationship between intelligence and affectivity is basic. It grows during the early months and becomes the foundation from which the personality derives stability and health.
