ABSTRACT
To many of us who have tried to help children with their problems, it has become increasingly clear that the child cannot be viewed in isolation from the family. Regardless of whether it be a biological, surrogate, or artificial family, or even a fantasy, it is for the child a transcendent reality that profoundly affects self-image and interaction with the environment of persons and things.
