ABSTRACT

In 1926, F. Goodenough published the first scoring system for the measurement of intelligence from human figure drawings. Ease of administration, its appeal to practically all children, and above all, its validity, have made the test one of the most widely used in psychology. Goodenough used a point score system. In 1963, D. B. Harris published his restandardization of the test. Further refinements in the evaluation of the drawings are suggested in a 1970 publication of the National Center for Health Statistics. The reader is referred to these three classical studies for detailed description of the methods used in establishing norms.
