By the end of this chapter you should:

Be able to analyse the underlying structure of an argument by placing it into diagrammatic form.

Understand the two ways in which reasons function dependently and independently of each other (‘T’ diagrams and ‘V’ diagrams).

Understand the difference between ‘simple’ and ‘complex’ arguments.

Be able to apply the above skills of analysis to more authentic ‘real/live’ arguments.

Understand what is meant by the term ‘principle of charity’ and when to apply it.
