ABSTRACT
Cognition has to do with theories of how human beings ‘know’ and how they develop their knowledge.
From the time they are born until their death, humans typically have the ability to process information, make sense of information gained from their senses, reflect on that information, create new information, apply knowledge and, as a result, change the way they think, act or react. This ‘cognitive ability’ is, many would argue, what makes us human and differentiates us from every other type of living creature in the world. However, there is a great deal of debate as to the exact nature of that cognition and, especially, how it is formed and how it develops.
