ABSTRACT

Internalizing refers to the tendency to introspect about problems, and experience distress and dysphoria: it is seen in all disorders characterized by high anxiety and depression, as well as fear disorders such as panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and the phobic disorders. There is considerable overlap between these disorders, as their symptoms are often shared between them. Over the years, the names given to these clinical syndromes have reflected the predominant symptoms in each disorder.
