Externalizing Disorders: Misuse of Alcohol and Drugs, and Eating Disorders

Externalizing refers to the tendency to act out one’s problems, and includes conduct disorders (see Chapter 20, p. 297) and anti-social personality (see Chapter 18, p. 276). This chapter is concerned with disorders that are common in adults attending general hospitals: namely, alcohol dependence, drug dependence, and eating disorders.
