The name of the on-carrier may be specified as well. Less commonly, there may be a leg of the voyage from a point of origin to the loading port; this is known as pre-carriage and is performed by a pre-carrier. It is less often arranged by the shipping line than on-carriage because shippers operating in the country of origin of the goods are often able to make the necessary arrangements themselves without difficulty.
