ABSTRACT

This chapter describes note-form of Joachim von Ribbentrop, a young member of the Nazi Party and note-form contains the negotiations which led to Hitler coming to power in January 1933. The note-form starts with Wednesday 18 January 1933 and ends with Monday 30 January 1933. Hitler insists on being Chancellor and Papen again considers this impossible. His influence with Hindenburg was not strong enough to effect this and Hitler makes no further arrangements for talks. Hitler's Chancellorship under the auspices of a national front does not appear quite hopeless and young Hindenburg promises to talk to Joachim again before his father makes final decision. At 11am. Sunday 29 January long Hitler-Papen talk and Hitler declared that on the whole everything was clear. But there would have to be general elections and an enabling Law and Papen saw Hindenburg immediately. Finally, Hitler appointed Chancellor.
