ABSTRACT

Mrs Emily Jones, a 76-year-old woman, was admitted to hospital after breaking her hip. She has had surgery and is now to undergo rehabilitation to get her mobilising so she can return to her sheltered accommodation. On admission, Mrs Jones’ nutritional state is poor: she is undernourished and underweight. The dietician has suggested giving Mrs Jones a high-protein diet with nutritional supplements. The nurse is responsible for ensuring that Mrs Jones receives this diet.
