ABSTRACT

In this chapter we will examine how ICT has changed the conventional notion of Literacy and consider the impact of this in the classroom. The potential use of ICT in the areas of Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing are analysed taking account of a range of new literacies.

Ideas in this chapter, and the next, will not be tied to age-related progression, such as Key Stages 1 and 2, but rather consider the progression in, and of, ideas. This is important because, as we saw in Chapter 2, ideas do not develop in strict accordance with age.
