ABSTRACT

Most of the class have arrived and are settling as George bursts into the room. He pokes or nudges every person he passes as he makes his convoluted way to his seat. He stops to share insults with a mate, laughing loudly and making rude gestures as he eventually falls heavily into his chair, all the while looking for potential interactions. Nobody takes any notice of him so he resorts to interacting with the child he has been placed next to, or behind him or in front of him, whether they want him to or not. After repeated requests to pay attention, George finally complies, swinging on his chair as the teacher introduces the work.
