ABSTRACT
Almost all the prophetic books contain additional material, often hard to distinguish from other sources. Isaiah is no exception, but is also a special case. Chapters 1–39 belong to a much earlier time than Chapter 40ff. which are the work of ‘Second Isaiah’ and others. The later parts of Isaiah are concerned with the Jews exiled in Babylon, and their return to Jerusalem, 200 years later.
