ABSTRACT

Jeremiah’s work covers a long and eventful period in the history of Judah. The earliest material (e.g. Hinnom, p. 235) dealing with the period of Josiah’s reforms, c.622 bc (told in 2 Kings 22–23); the later part of his work belongs to the turbulent period after Josiah’s death, when Babylon conquered and destroyed Jerusalem, 604–586 bc.
