As a result of the agrarian crisis, the Association for the Reform of Taxation and the Economy was formed. One of the aims of the organization was to consolidate the position of the Conservatives and the landed interest. This is emphasized by the following declaration which the constituent assembly of the Association accepted in February 1876.
