ABSTRACT

This chapter examines how print and online media products are devised and taken through the early stages of market research and concept development. The market and target audience's expectations play a large part in determining both the content and design style of print publications and websites. The primary purpose of a front cover is to attract attention, the cover page of magazines, newspapers employs a number of graphic or photographic devices that emphasis the contents and provide entry points visual focus points in the layout that lead the eye into a page. The Internet Corporation for Assigning Names and Numbers (ICANN) regulates website names, and a new site's name must be registered with a domain name registrar who issues permission to use the name for a set period of time. A publication or web design has to focus on the reader or visitor. However, they also need to consider the internal audience the media company and its stakeholders.
