Doing social research by Tony Colombo book
Finding a subject The actual process of doing social research may be defined as a logical and systematic approach that starts by selecting a social problem appropriate for study and then formulating a series of critical questions to be investigated (Bryman, 2004). At this early stage it is important to note that the subject you select for study is not drawn from a predefined list of topics stored in the darkest recesses of your
university’s vaults. Instead, you should be aware that potential areas of research interest are all around us; it is about using your imagination. Ask yourself what social issues are of current concern and what questions need to be addressed regarding these issues.
