ABSTRACT

This section will focus on the 14-19 learning context in England. It will explore the reform which has shaped 14-19 education (see Table 1.1: The 14-19 eduction policy timeline). We suggest you read this chapter in conjunction with Chapter 17, Extending Partnerships, in Part 4, Learning Futures, which examines collaboration between institutions and agencies within 14-19 education. This section intends to present and explain the 14-19 learning context and examine, in particular, the 14-19 Diploma and its place within the existing 14-19 framework. Finally, alternatives to the existing 14-19 framework will be introduced.
