ABSTRACT
In this chapter we discuss some of the questions you need to ask, and some of the decisions and practical arrangements you need to make in order to conduct your observations. We first discuss who you should observe, issues of access and decisions about selecting the observed child; we continue with where to observe and for how long; and we conclude with some guidance about maintaining reflective notes in addition to your observation records.
