ABSTRACT
There ought to be more of a dialogue between the first three Readings in this Section and the rest, but the effect of Jacques Lacan's work has been to create a powerful intellectual tradition within psychoanalytic theory which is less and less interested in positions which do not foreground the kind of theorisation of language represented in Section 1 of this Reader.
