ABSTRACT
Scientific classifications may be fascinating in their complexity and rigidity, but are they really suitable for human categorization? So-called folk taxonomies suggest that we approach hierarchies from the centre, that we concentrate on basic level categories such as DOG and CAR and that our hierarchies are anchored in these basic level categories.
